After studying and working at the film institute Whistling Woods Intl. Mumbai, Aly Rana went on to write, direct & produce several short format projects, which includes commercial work done for clients such as BNP Paribas, Meghe Group, CIPLA etc.

In 2015, he was invited to China to make a documentary on Buddhism as part of the cultural exchange program 'Looking China'. He has frequently collaborated with the actor Yashpal Sharma (Lagaan, Gangaajal) on award wining short films MOKSHA (2015) and SANYOG (2016), both of which got acquired for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

His narrative works have received international acclaim at prestigious film festivals in countries such as Italy, Canada, Germany, USA, France and India.

Currently Aly is developing his first narrative feature film under his own banner, A.R. Films.
